Mitsubishi Electric at the “New Building – 80 Seconds” Summit
On June 24–25, 2025, the third construction site summit within the “New Building – 80 Seconds” network took place in Berlin. Following the successful events of the past two years, the organizers chose MaHalla as the venue, bringing together representatives from high-level politics, academia, industry, small and medium enterprises, startups, and energy sector companies.
As a leading partner of the network, Mitsubishi Electric was also present to share insights on the new era of construction. A lecture on “Accelerating the Heat Transition with System Solutions for New and Existing Buildings” was delivered, highlighting the need for faster implementation of energy-efficient technologies in the construction sector, which sparked lively discussions among participants.
Efficiency Through Technology – Smart Solutions for New and Existing Construction
During the first session focused on energy efficiency, emphasis was placed on heat pump technology, which can generate 4 kW of heat from 1 kW of electricity.
While the use of renewable technologies has been standard in new construction for years, heat pumps are proving effective in existing buildings as well. They can replace or supplement building heating systems.
Modern solutions for heating and efficient air conditioning are complemented by cloud management systems such as MELCloud and Iconics Digital Solutions. These systems make energy-saving potential visible and actionable, thereby enhancing overall energy efficiency.
Heat Pumps – Cost-Effective Construction and Synergistic Solutions
The second thematic block addressed economic efficiency. It was emphasized that the transition to lower-emission heating should not be a luxury but affordable and cost-effective.
An example of successful synergy is the external heating center implemented with PreFab TGA GmbH, consisting of cascades of heat pumps in containers outside the building. This plug-and-play system enables a cost-effective shift from decentralized solutions, such as gas central heating, to centralized heating, significantly increasing project profitability and efficiency.
“Heat pumps provide solutions for any building while ensuring high efficiency and realistic project feasibility.”
